Frisson vol. IV
English
2024
The theme in the most recent volume of Frisson is taken from a sentence from Voltaire’s Candide: “we must cultivate our garden.” This phrase is meant critically, as described in our main article which explores German theorists Horkheimer and Adorno’s characterization of the Enlightenment movement as totalitarian. However, other articles in the issue take this theme literally. A featured interview with a woman who runs a worm composting business in South Florida illustrates that an attention to the microscopic world of enzymes is world altering.
