Submissions

​The next planned issue, Frisson Vol. VI, will be "The Yandere Issue." The featured article will be about the foundational yandere figure, Abe Sada, portrayed most notably in the infamous film In the Realm of the Senses, and Takaoka Yuka, a hostess who stabbed her boyfriend in a fit of jealous rage and planned to watch him die. Any works related to yandere figures throughout time and place are welcomed to develop this theme.

We're seeking essays, fiction, comics, illustration, or poetry related to this theme. Submissions are open until October 25, 2025. All work must be original (not AI-generated or translated) and free from copyright restrictions.

As for the basic guidelines, nonfiction essays and fiction should be 1,200 words or fewer, poems should be no more than 50 lines, and all images should be half-letter size, with no more than 2 images.

Work can be sent to frissonzine@gmail.com with a deadline of October 25, 2025, with a subject line of "Frisson Vol. VI Submission," and we will reply to all submissions. Frisson is a DIY publication, but we pay modestly for content. Pay rates for contributors are $0.08 per word and $25 per image.
